Ekonomiczna i społeczna wydajność pracy w rolnictwie i w różnych typach gospodarstw rolniczych

In the paper the problem of labour productivity in agriculture was discussed. Author distinguished the social and economic productivity of labour with regard to: (i) the overall agriculture, in the years 1990-1998; (ii) individual farms carrying out farm accounts for Institute of Agricultural Economics and Food Economy (IERiGŻ), over the 1996-1998 period; (iii) large-scale farms established as a result of ownership transformation in the state-owned farms. Results of the study indicate that in the analysed period, the labour productivity of people employed in agriculture, in terms of their contribution into gross domestic product, was from 3.7 to 6.4 times lower compared to people employed in other sectors of economy. The strong links between the level of social and economic efficiency of labour and farm size was noticed. In the holdings between 20 and 50 hectares of agricultural land, the social and economic productivity of labour reached the equal levels. The large-scale farms were characterised by higher level of economic efficiency of labour in relation to individual farms.
