This article reports on analyses of the production factors effectiveness in agricultural holdings operating in differentiated natural conditions. lt deals with the question of sustainable development of agro-food economy in the context of some factors determining balanced development of agricultural holdings. Drawn conclusions are based on an analysis carried out using empirical data taken from farms in former Białostockie voivodship. In the research, the emphasis was placed on finding interrelations between quality of agricultural land and effectiveness of production factors. First, a set of partial measures of efficiency related to selected factors of production was employed. Then, interdependence between production efficiency and quality of agricultural land was indicated. Finally, the concluding remarks drawn from the results of the study were presented. lt was suggested that those conclusions should be taken into consideration when strategy for development of agriculture and food economy is to be created.
