Regional policy in the field of rural areas and agriculture

Abstract
The paper overviews the most important problems of regional policy with a special attention paid to agri-food economy. Author discussed and provides an assessment of the issues touching the following: the disposition of various tasks between authorities at central and regional levels, the factors determining the range of legal independence of regional authorities in the decision-making process in the field of economic policies; the approaches to the development of regions (concept of equity and concept of polarity) as well as economic and political results of their implementation; the place of agricultural economy in regional policy and the participation of the regions in activities designed to ensure security of food supply in the country. With respect to construction of the regional development strategy, Poland was divided into three mega-regions.
