Abstract
The state intervention policy in Poland requires some efforts to improve its effectiveness. This especially concerns the intervention activities on cereal market. Author states that evolution of methods of regulating the main agricultural markets in Poland should be coherent with the objectives of the common agricultural policy reforms in the European Union as well as with commitments resulting from World Trade Organisation agreements. Consequently, it means more market orientation, less state regulation and intervention, and particularly adjustment of prices for main agricultural commodities towards world market prices along with agricultural income support by other, than institutionally determined prices, methods.
