Abstract
Research results show that the range of credits taken by farmers is diversified by three basic factors of production: land, labour and capital. Moreover, both credit value and degree of its application are influenced by age and education of farm producers. Credit was mainly destined for current activities of enterprises, and only about 30 per cent was for investment. In the examined population, it has been recorded low level of the debt rate, far from the generally accepted security limit. Its value corresponds with low share of liabilities in agricultural production value. In the European Union Member States, debts of agricultural holdings amount to 50 per cent of the value of agricultural production. It is three times higher in comparison with farms analysed in. the study. The average value of the debt rate of agricultural enterprises in the EU is more than 4 times higher. But in Greece, Spain ·and Portugal debt rate is at the le vel close to the one studied on in Poland in selected population of agricultural holdings.
