Perfection of Banking Attendance to Agricultural Sector

Abstract
Since 1990 Polish banking system has been undergoing deep transition. Several dozens of new banks have entered the financial market, the number of banking outlets is rapidly rising, banks provide much wider range of products and services. Simultaneously, changes in banking activity regulations - in regard to legislation and institutions - are being introduced. It is estimated that about 31 operational banks partlc1pate m financial servicing an agricultural sector. Over a dozen of them, particularly Bank of Food Economy (BGŻ) and regional banks cooperate mainly with economic units from agribusiness sector. Co-operative banks deal with granting credits for farmers. Both financial standing and financial results of banks functioning in this sphere are differential. Their future position in credit market depends on ability to face competition from giant home and foreign banks.
