Abstrakt
The aim of this paper is to highlight the topical problems of food security in the Africa, namely in Sahelian countries, not evident to such degree across Europe and North America, for example. In the developed countries people care more about the food quality while in the developing ones, particularly in Africa, it is a matter of food quantity. For different reasons it is still a current problem. In the Sahel region people steadily suffer from the lack of food, either temporary or locally, because of the weather variability and backward agricultural techniques. In most of the Sahelian countries people achieve the minimum daily energy required by FAO (2 200-2 300 kcal per day per capita) but it is still a lot to do if it comes to reach patterns of healthy nutrition. According to FAO, all Sahelian countries belong to those classified as prone to food insecurity.
