Abstract
Demand for touristic services is above all the result of tourists’ needs but its scale and structure are defined by many economic and non-economic factors. The paper presents the issues pertaining to tourist demand and the results of empirical research carried out among tourists spending their holidays in 14 communities of Eastern Poland’s borderland. The most popular forms of tourist activities among the respondents are a few days’ long outings arranged several times a year. As to the choice of location, low prices proved the decisive factor, and family and friends proved to be the main source of information. In regards to the elements of the tourist products, natural values of a given area is the most influential, while easy communication and tourist services is the least influential
