Środki zaradcze i metody zwalczania bezrobocia w powiecie bełchatowskim

The paper represents an analytical attempt undertaken to illustrate and generally evaluate the changes in structure of unemployment in the chosen urban-rural community. Some applied measures and methods to combat this phenomenon were shown. On the basis of practical activity of self-government at county (poviat) and commune (gmina) levels, the study provides the discussion of the following questions: creating the labour market equilibrium, satisfying the needs of population, production and services expansion in concern with local development and unemployment reduction in rural areas. In order to find micro- and macro-social interrelations associated with unemployment and agri-food policy, a few general reflections on the mix of possible self-government activities and market mechanism favoured both agriculture and rural areas were presented.
