Abstract
In Poland, tea is a necessity and its market is twice as big as that of coffee. Black and loose teas are most appreciated. The consumption of granulated teas and teabags has gone up. In the period under study the amount of consumed tea increased over 30 times per person. In the mid-nineties it became stabilized on the level of approximately one kilogram a year. Currently, shifts have been noted to drink better quality teas, making use of specific features of particular blends and brands. Professional tea trade is being developed now.
