The Changes in Fruit Consumption in Poland and in the European Union Countries

Abstract
The article is addressed to changes observed in fruit consumption by households over the period covering the years 1988-1998. The comparative analysis in respect to changes both in the level and in the structure of fruit consumption in Poland and in the European Union Member States was presented. In Poland for example, fruit total consumption has been increasing successively since 1988. The considerable fivefold rise was noted in the case of tropical fruit consumption that reached the present level of 15 kg per capita per year.
